The Association in France
How was association’s French branch born?
In May 2002, Sylvie and husband Michel adopted her son Alexandre from Zeleniy Gay (Kharkov region). At that time, she realized how old and poorly equiped orphanage buildings were. Mostly because of the lack of financial means to keep them in better shape.
The Association in Switzerland
Why and how was the association born ?
We, Pascal and Martine, decided to found the non-profit “Les Amis de Svieta” association in December 2000, after our second adoption experience during summer 2000.
We had choosen Ukraine because Russian adoption conditions, where we first adopted back in 1998, had badly degraded. During our visits to our daughter Irina’s orphanage, we have had the opportunity to meet the other children of her group many times. We have been impressed by another young girl named Svieta, who suffered from a severe face malformation.Svieta becomes Anna Grace…
During his visit of Nikolaiev orphanage in December 2001, Pascal left a letter for Svieta’s parents to the manager Olga Ivanovna (together with Vika on this picture).
We begged her to organize its forwarding because we did not have the address.
