Let’s help the HIV positive orphans in Zeleniy Gay!!!
At the end of 2003, Kharkov local Health Department decided to group in one single location all HIV positive orphans which were dispersed in different clinics all across the district. They choose the site of “Zeleniy
Gay” specialized orphanage (25 km away from Kharkov city) where an old house (separated from the other buildings) was available.
Unfortunately, Health Department was not able to find or allocate money to refurbish the house before kids would arrive. In January 2004, Masha and Galina called us for urgent help and Sylvie was the first to respond and jump into this project by sending funds to help “Zeleniy Gay”. Thanks to her, all necessary material to repair and refurbish house have been bought and orphanage workmen did the job during January and February 2004.

Since end of February 2004, 10 children (between 4 months and 6 years old) are living in that house and receive proper care. Masha and Galina didn’t stop their efforts and looked for local help too ! They found support with Artem Kosenko and Afanasiy Barbulat who not only sponsored “Zeleniy Gay” with lamps for all rooms but also went onsite to help install them.

But there is still a lot of stuff missing, that’s where you can help! First, funds are needed to repair and refurbish the large closed balcony where kids would play during bad weather days:
Then, new windows to better isolate house for next winter cold:
And also:
- new refrigerator to keep medics
- developmental games and toys
- summer clothes and shoes
- one time use diapers
- and over all, much love and care….
