For your agenda!!!!
Please reserve Sunday, November 21st, 2010.
We at Les Amis de Svieta celebrates this year our 10th anniversary! We will let you know more details later.
For now, please mark this day in red in your agenda. We will organise a great party for you, that we can already promise.
Playground in Makiivka
It was 5 years ago when we visited for the first time AIDS/HIV orphanage in Makiivka, in the name of APAEU (Association des Parents Adoptants d’Enfants Ukrainiens) and in the name of LAdS France. Back then we discussed with the management the possibility to set up and pay for an outdoor playground. Mid August of 2009 we contacted the management again and we started this project. Mid October we were able to open not just one, but two playgrounds for the Makiivka children.
Flu vaccine for NBH
Winter season is not far away. Chief doctor Olga of Nikolaiev Baby House (NBH) asked for help financing flu vaccine again this year (we are talking about seasonal flu vaccine, not ‘swine flu’ vaccine!).
Thanks to a generous donation from LAdS USA, the flu vaccines needed for 2009 could be purchased and have been delivered.
Injections have been given already and Chief doctor Olga and the kids from Nikolaiev Baby House (NBH) are very grateful.
LAdS Newsletter 2009
We regularly inform our members on the way in which their donations are used by semi-annually publishing a short “Newsletter”. Or, to be more precise, after each trip to Ukraine.

Down syndrome children need support
Chief doctor Olga from Nikolaiev Baby House (NBH) is looking for our support. She would like to provide a special course of medicamental treatment for children with Down syndrome. There are 7 children at the moment and this project will last at least 2-3 years and will cost 3674 hrv (~$500) per child per year.
Total amount: US$ 3,500 per year (€ 2’700 or CHF 4’000), or US$ 10,000 for 3 years (€ 7’700 or CHF 11’500).
Any help will be appreciated by Olga and the children.

Gas burner project at Zeleniy Gay
Updated news here!
Last year, we carried out a project to supply well water to the specialized orphanage of Zeleniy Gay (Kharkov region). We made a control visit last April and can state that everything functions in the best way and thanks to this project, the orphanage could save half of operating expenses for fresh water supply.
This brought orphanage director another idea: consider a similar operation for its two ancient gas-burners (one of which doesn’t even run anymore).

We succeeded in finishing the purchase of the Montessori material at the market of Nikolaiev, not without difficulty. The remainder of the day was devoted to the assessment of the voyage and to the accounting.
