    The Smith family decided to establish the American branch of “Les Amis de Svieta” in year 2002.
    Living in Georgia, Helen and Jim had already adopted Sarah Ann in summer 2001 from Nikolaiev baby house. During that first ukrainian experience, they realized all problems encountered by baby house director to manage her orphanage.

  3. Training courses in Poland need funding

    Updated news 21.12.2017 regarding Training courses in Poland here!

    Olga has a new request for funding, training courses in Poland for two NBH rehabilitologists. This rehabilitation program uses a method of “conductive education” (CE) developed by Hungarian András Pető. Pető was a Hungarian doctor, who has created a framework for an educational model, in which children with disabilities could have an education that met their particular physical and intellectual needs. CE has gained more and more acceptance in the education of children with motor disorders, for children who have cerebral palsy or brain injury. more

  4. Art Therapy update

    Updated news 7.5.2017 regarding “Art Therapy” after second Art Therapies has graduated here!

    Almost six months have passed since the launching of the new art therapy rehabilitation program. It has become the most favorite occupation for all children at NBH. The project has overcome all, even the most optimistic prognoses and expectations. Children just love it. And the results are also incredible: the most “difficult” and closed children reveal their inner world, gain trust toward grown-ups. more

    At the beginning of 2016 we started a new and revolutionary project at NBH, aimed for mums with a handicapped child. Today, we are happy to inform you that the biggest project of 2016 is progressing at full speed. All preparation work has been finished; all the rooms have been dismantled.

  6. Success: anti-Flu Vaccine for NBH & KrBH 2016

    Winter brings not only holidays, presents and lots of fun by outdoors games with the snow but also lots of extra worries for the doctors because it is the season of viruses and flus.
    As always, unfortunately there was no budget available to buy anti-flu vaccine nor for necessary winter medics for the children of the orphanages in Ukraine.
    And as always Les Amis de Svieta came to help. It has become the tenth year when our friends in America, Helen and Jim Smith (the leaders of Svieta Inc.) have kindly paid for more than 100 doses of anti-flu vaccine for NBH.

    Update December 31st, 2015
    Olga is currently at home in Nikolaiev, recovering from chemo therapy. Olga still feels weak and gets tired quickly but sickness is almost gone. Olga goes to work at NBH for a few hours each day.
    In 2016, Olga will have to travel again to Kiev, for Radiation Oncology.

    Needless to say, we urgently need more donations to enable Olga to continue the best treatment for her particular situation. Please help!

  9. Art Therapy Rehabilitation Room at NBH finished!

    Almost half a year ago we launched the biggest project of 2015: ART-THERAPY REHABILITATION ROOM!

    We are proud to announce that the art therapy rehabilitation room is now finished.

    We have decided to postpone the grand opening till Olga Ivanovna is back to work after cancer treatment but otherwise the children are already enjoying the lessons and sessions of art therapy. more

  10. Anti-Flu Vaccine for NBH & KrBH 2015

    Nikolaiev Baby House and Kremenchuk Baby House need support for their yearly anti-flu vaccine program. Last year both Baby Houses were able to find sponsors for their respective anti-flu vaccination and this year we would like to help NBH & KrBH to find sponsors again!
